Shenandoah Park Is Popular With Public

WASHINGTON, May 11--(AP)--The Shenandoah National Park in Virginia has replaced the great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee as the most popular National playground.

The published record of hearings on the 1936 Interior Department appropriations bill disclosed today 694,096 persons visited the Shenandoah Park in 1936, when 602,302 visited the Great Smoky Park.

The Great Smoky Park led all National Parks in the number of visitors in the years 1933, 1934, and 1935. There was no record of the number entering the Shenandoah Park in those years.
